On a rainy October day, Marine and Joe said “I do” in the beautiful Sarah P. Duke Gardens at the historic Duke University. The misty rain didn’t dampen their joy even for a moment as they celebrated their love and joined together under a tent filled with their family and friends.

Marine’s smile absolutely lit up every space she entered, and the cloudy day provided a soft and dreamy backdrop for stunning photography captured by Effervescent Media Works. The delighted groom and bride were pronounced man and wife by the very happy Rev. Debra Brazzel. From the sweet letters they wrote to each other to be read while getting ready, to the bride’s elegant Maggie Sottero dress swirling as she danced with her new husband; from the sweet cream roses and lavender bouquet to the charming and romantic photos taken throughout the gardens, the details of this wedding were elegant and personal.

Don’t let the effortless and calm beauty of Marine deceive you – she was the mastermind crafter, the maven of DIY, who thought of all the details of the beautiful decorations, and those of us here at Social Conceptions were so glad to be able to execute her vision. The centerpieces were candle-filled lanterns, with bunches of French lavender and other lovely touches sentimental to the bride and groom.

The bunting on the cake, by Whole Foods in Durham, was a sweet nod to their individual French and Italian heritages, along with the dainty French macaron and delicious Italian cannoli for dessert. French cheeses were clearly marked with adorable pennants and served on rustic wooden trestles. All of the catering by Catering Works was a feast for the eyes as well as the senses.

The jubilant flag dance at the reception brought everyone onto the floor with them to share in the celebration of their union. This wedding of Joe and Marine, the new Monsieur et Madame, was one of the loveliest we’ve ever been lucky to be part of.

"My mother in law booked Social Conceptions for our wedding. I had spent months and months planning my wedding and doing a lot of DIY projects, so I wanted to make sure the wedding day would look exactly like I had envisioned it. Ashley was our day-of coordinator and she was great! She is very professional and hard working, she was on her feet the entire day making sure that my wedding would come to life the way I wanted it. Thank you Ashley!" - Marine (The Bride)

"Ashley was high energy, helpful, and an overall joy to work with. We could not have gotten through this day without her!" - Nancy (Mother of the Groom)
